Program Description:
The Transnational LL.M. program focuses on International and Comparative Law.  This advanced degree program is designed for law school graduates with a common law background.  Applicants with a civil law background interested in International Law topics are advised to apply to the General LL.M. for Foreign-Trained Lawyers (LL.M. in US Law),  at either our Tokyo (Japan)  or Philadelphia (U.S.A.) campus, which allows students to take courses in the subject area.

The degree is 24 credits, including one course in which a scholarly paper is produced.  The degree is often completed within two years, however, students are given four years to complete the requirements.  If you have not taken International Law, you will need to also during the program.  This course will not, however, count towards the 24 credits required to complete the degree.

Transnational students based at the Temple University Japan campus are not required to complete a semester study abroad, outside of Tokyo, during their degree studies.  You may, however, choose to study abroad at our Philadelphia (U.S.A.) or Rome (Italy) campuses during your enrollment.

A required application includes:

- one to two page personal statement
- one reference letter
- official law transcripts (received in a sealed envelope from university with English translation if  needed)
- $50 application fee
- resume
